Business Operations

Trinseo partners with companies to bring their ideas to life.

We continue to invest in solutions for growing markets, like consumer electronics, where sustainability plays a significant role in design and performance. At the same time, we are actively adapting to climate-related challenges by aligning with regulations on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, improving resource efficiency and staying ahead of legislative changes that may affect our operations and value chain.

In 2024, we achieved our goal of implementing a due diligence program for our supply chain by completing the integration of EcoVadis ratings into our Beroe procurement intelligence platform. Additionally, we continued our supplier engagement program to understand their sustainability metrics, decarbonization strategies and sustainable portfolios.

You can find more information about our sustainable operations, including our supply chain and procurement practices, in our Fiscal Year 2024 Sustainability Report.

Progress on Our Supplier Responsibility Goals

In 2024, we achieved this goal by integrating EcoVadis into our Beroe platform, so that 100% of our A-rated suppliers are now part of our due diligence program. The EcoVadis ratings scores businesses on 21 issues under four themes: Environment, Labor Practices & Human Rights, Fair Business Practices, and Sustainable Procurement.

Additionally, any new supplier with an estimated spend above $100,000 or those supplying to Trinseo’s battery business will undergo due diligence during onboarding and be integrated into EcoVadis.

In 2024, we revisited our Supplier Responsibility goal on compliance and determined that we needed to revise it to expand its impact. Aligned with industry best practices, this goal not only considers spend, but also the environmental impact of our suppliers, such as Scope 3 emissions.

Supply Chain & Procurement

Beyond working with our suppliers to achieve a due diligence program and maintain supplier accountability, our Supply Chain and Procurement team is also integral to educating suppliers on our Scope 3 initiatives and sourcing recycled and bio-based feedstocks that will support our sustainably advantaged solutions.

Recycling Facilities

In 2024, Trinseo inaugurated our polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) depolymerization demonstration facility and opened our acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) dissolution pilot plant. These advancements strengthen our existing portfolio of recycling technologies and represent important milestones in realizing our sustainability goals.

Operation Clean Sweep®

We take pride in our long-standing commitment to Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS), an industry-wide initiative dedicated to reducing plastic pellet pollution. In 2024, Trinseo had 15 facilities worldwide that participated in the OCS initiative, while our other facilities continued to be guided by these principles.
